It is also available from versiontracker.com
I want to use this posting as a means to report bugs and give feedback. I don't know how well that will work... But let's give it a shot.
Thanks for the comments. The software does require 10.4 to run.
I've put an upgraded version v1.1.2 on the website. Should be also at versiontracker too soon. The big change for this version is that it will let you export HTML or tab delmited text.

I couldn't get this product to run in mac OS X 10.3.9
Same here, it opens up and then nothing happens, it works in Tiger only?
Yep. Tiger only. It uses 10.4's new feature - Core Data
Can't get it to save. Every time I get the following error: 2 validation errors have occurred: priority is a required value. minLevel is a required value.
sal m - I think I've replicated your problem
I have changed the xcdatamodel to provide default values for those fields.
I'll have an updated version posted very soon (by tomorrow)
I just downloaded this, and I think it's off to a good start -- very nifty! I'd really like to see some utility for exporting the data though, preferably as a cut-and-paste statblock, or even as a printed page (though cut and paste would be more useful for integrating into an existing adventure). I realize not everything lends itself to cut and paste (like the NPC tables) but those could always be exported as tab-delimited files (which users could then use in Excel, Word or whatever).
Thanks Ken!
That's what it is... A good start for sure!
I'm thinking of exporting all or part as an html page.
Cut and Paste should be easy to do.
What do you think would be more useful - tab delimited text file or html?
For my purposes, tab delimited would probably be better, but then I'm fairly geeky. I think having both options -- export as HTML, export as tab data -- would be ideal. That way it would work well for all those who want to generate a basic town and share it with their friends via a generic web page, and for more advanced users who'd probably end up importing it into Excel or some sort of database.
I can't get the Powers to display and the add/remove buttons on that page are grayed out.
Do you have a new URL for this? The one in the post isn't working.
My old site went the way of the Dodo, without warning. I've got it here now http://www.verbdate.com/private/cetuscript/index.html
This is a really good start; I've been working on something similar but...
...you haven't got anything in the application that gives me an idea of how many blacksmiths there are and the quality of the work that do. So how many inns in town there are and how expensive they are.
This is the kind of information I need if I want to pull out a town out of nothing while playing.
Thanks for the start,
though it appears to be stalled since 2006. Any chance the source might be in the public domain for those who want to take up this project?
In OSX.4.10 I cannot see the preferences, and all tabs but General come up disabled (not filled, all buttons greyed out).
Yes. It is a start.
I'm going to give your suggestion to make it public domain as I haven't had the time to devote any resources to it.
Any suggestions on a good route? Sourceforge?
I don't have a lot of experience outside of Delphi, a Windows based programming language, and Real Basic for cross platform stuff.
Certainly Source Forge is the main place, but you might find more interest by asking in the RPG email world.
Also depends on what/how you built it. What is it written with?
Just found this app and have to say I'm really enjoying it. If you're still interested in doing anything with it, I'd find it really helpful if I could randomly select an NPC, even better if it could be weighted on time.
Even better if a town could be divided into subsections aka quarter/district/zone/etc.
For example:
subsection:
Non-Human Quarter
Slum
temple district
Governor's Palace
time:
dawn
noon
dusk
midnight
Basically, I'd see this on another tab right to the right of NPC titled "Encounter"
