AOL CEO: DNGI

AOL CEO: Does Not Get It.
AOL CEO: Established media to dominate

I'm not sure who Jonathan Miller is talking to. I think it must be AOL shareholders.
After reading this news article... I think I'd want to sell a block of my AOL stock - if I had any. Mr. Miller is sounding like a traditional real estate agent talking about ComFree* - fearful and defensive about being disrupted. I'm sure high in Mr. Miller's mind is how to buy YouTube.

The Net is huge and is expanding. And is changing as it expands - Asia is going to be massive. Mr. Miller's world will likely get very small.

Curious that AOL has adopted an ad-based revenue model... adopting a revenue model embraced by YouTube and much of the Web 2.0 out there.

* ComFree provides professional commission free private sale of property in Canada and Australia.

mind-bogglingly cool

Here's the story on CNET - Allchin: Vista apps to be 'mind-bogglingly cool'.

Even the market-speak is not original.

How long did XP take to establish itself? Slowly over years. And XP didn't seem that disruptive to me. Vista, on the other hand, I expect will be very disruptive. How many business applications are going to break with Vista or be unsupported under Vista. There is a huge body of dark legacy code out there that people count on every day. While Microsoft will want us to all drink the Vista Kool-Aid immediately, I don't expect the market to be so eager.

But really, if you want 'mind-bogglingly cool', you don't have to wait for Vista. Get a Mac. If you want to develop software that is mind-bogglingly cool, embrace the technologies that exist right now, on a Mac. The cool stuff that the marketing people run with are built on solid technologies that are really cool - Cocoa, QuickTime, Quartz, OpenGL, Core Data, ... tips of the iceberg.

With the headaches you are going to face with Vista adoption, why go through the pain for catch-up technology? Why not catch the curl of the wave with the innovation leader - Apple Macintosh?
