The location is very convenient. 东直门站 (Dongzhimen Station) is nearby. Once on the subway, you can get just about anywhere for 2 元 (29¢). There is also a shopping mall at the subway station.
When it comes to a room, I'm very easy to satisfy. Provided in the room were the usual amenities such as shampoo and soap. Instead of coffee, boiled water and tea bags were provided. Internet is included with the room.
The beds are hard. The pillows were very fluffy. I'm a bit of an oddity as I prefer an old flat pillow.
Cold is different in Beijing than in Edmonton. Or, more precisely, the human accommodation to the cold is different. In Edmonton, if you don't build for -30°C or colder, winter could be fatal. So, weather like -9°C is not a big deal in Edmonton. Anywhere you go will be warm.
Beijing is different. Things don't get nearly as cold here as in Edmonton. But, that also mean that you don't need to build for extreme weather. Just dress warmer. Wear long underwear. In Edmonton, I never normally wear pajamas. In Beijing, I'm glad I got some for Christmas.
I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
