In China, I teach Junior 2's English. They would be grade 8 in Canada.
Today, one of the students asked me, "What day is today?"
I looked at my watch but then had to fumble with my glasses. "September 11," I replied. I knew what day it is. 9/11. That bit of data bounced in the back of my head. In the foreground, I had a stage of Chinese students to teach. Each child has a different level of ability. Some are not following what is going on. Often they seat mate or someone close will whisper the translation to them. Others have no problems keeping up. I'm balancing in my head the nearly 70 children who surround me.
When I replied with the date, my student asked me, "What do you think of Bin Laden?"
